The Joy of Photography

I recently started teaching photography to a small group of women.  I love my class.  It’s been such a joy to pass on my love of photography.    The class has now formed a photography group.  We get together every few weeks to take photos .  I took this picture on our last outing.  It was so much fun exploring the lake with friends and then watching a beautiful sunset together .

It’s great to find something you love to do, but sharing your passion with others is even better.

It’s all about the light

If you study photography, one of the first things you’ll  learn is:  it’s all about the light.  You’ll read about the “magic hours” at sunrise and sunset.  You’ll learn about strobes and artificial light.  You’ll learn how light colors the world around you.  Every evening, if the sun is shining, I’m amazed at the golden glow that paints the world around me.  I don’t think I ever really noticed how vivid the colors are at that time of day, until I started looking for it–waiting for it.

Moments

Sometimes when I’m out exploring and taking photos, I have these incredible “moments”.   Yesterday, our family drove to the Fairplay, Colorado area.  We’d never been there before, so it was a day of discovery.  As we drove down an old, rocky, dirt road, we noticed the moon sitting between two mountain peaks.  It was perfect!  As a photographer, it’s one of those things you hope for–to be at the right place at the right time!
